The welded steel elements in Spring Rising 2 are “recovered steel”. This is not “scrap steel” that’s been previously used and recycled, rather they’re unused or leftover pieces from other steel fabrication processes or projects. I generally purchase them from a nationally known steel fabricator in Meriden, CT. who makes them available to artists and small fabricators.
Spring Rising 2 is finished with a vibrant yellow baked on powder coating showing that color can have a significant impact on the feel and impression of a piece.
