Rolling Thunder
by William Breslow
Rolling Thunder is constructed of steel plates that started out as large round panels.
All were each cut into free-form shapes that retain the original outer circumference perimeter edge.
These shapes are fitted together into a three-dimensional, interlocking pattern and mounted with stainless steel hardware onto a central pole.
The pole itself is welded to a steel base, which is secured into a pressure treated lumber base.
The steel plates were originally finished by grinding patterns into the plates and leaving them "raw". Over time and with natural aging and rusting each panel displays it's pattern in a natural rusted patina that plays against both the sunlight and reflected light from the environment.
